Hartford, Conn. (June 7, 2012) – The 2012 Business Champions Awards Breakfast, produced in partnership by the MetroHartford Alliance and the Hartford Business Journal, kicked-off the Connecticut Business Expo this morning and honored seven privately held companies whose business strategies have resulted in revenue growth, innovation, workforce development, and sustainability. The event opened with remarks from Governor Malloy, who joined the Alliance and Hartford Business Journal in celebrating the private sector’s role in Connecticut’s economy.
“We are thrilled to honor this year’s winners and to celebrate the success of our local business community,” said Gail Lebert, publisher of the Hartford Business Journal. “These companies are an important part of the Greater Hartford Region and we are truly lucky to have them here.”
The 2012 Business Champions, include:
- Overall: Pegasus Manufacturing (Middletown)
- Workforce: Filomeno & Company (West Hartford)
- Sustainability: JCJ Architecture (Hartford)
- Revenue: eVariant, Inc. (Simsbury)
- Innovation: Protein Sciences Corporation (Meriden)
- Best Start-Up: Karelia Health (Farmington), AND, A Patient Advocate for You (Hartford)
“All of these companies have made significant contributions to the region's economy,” said Oz Griebel, President and CEO of the MetroHartford Alliance. “I wish them continued growth and success in the coming years.”
Winners were required to be a privately-held business or a stand-alone division of a privately-held company; a for-profit organization; and located in one of the 61 towns of Greater Hartford.
The 2012 Business Champions Awards was presented by: MetroHartford Alliance and Hartford Business Journal.
