Branford, CT  Here is a large box with a variety of recycled
bike components inside. Now make something out of them.

Zane's Cycles in Branford is challenging all professional
artists from all over Connecticut to create a sculpture
using recycled bicycle components provided to them by
Zane's. This is the first year of the competition which will
be a yearly event. The theme for 2012 is “Spring”.

~Artists interested in participating must complete the on-line
registration form  at www.zanes.com as well as submit a
portfolio containing a minimum of three sculpture examples by January 25th. The pool of artists will be
narrowed down to the top 10 and the finalists will be notified.

~The top 10 finalists will each be supplied with a large box of recycled bicycle parts available to pick by
February1st. Each artist must complete the entire project themselves - no outside fabrication - and utilize a
minimum of 50% of the parts provided. Since the sculptures will be displayed outdoors, other materials
used in the sculpture must be able to withstand weather conditions.

~Deadline for submissions of completed sculptures is March 25th at Zane's Cycles, 330 East Main Street,
   Branford, CT.

~There will be a total of 10 sculptures displayed at Zane's Cycles for both the public and media to view.

~There will be considerable exposure for this event with press coverage both locally and statewide.

~All sculptures become the property of Zane's Cycles.

~Top prize is a $1000 gift card. Remaining 9 sculptures will be auctioned and proceeds will go to The Zane
Foundation, a yearly scholarship program intended for local graduating students who excel scholastically.
