BERLIN: The Comcast Foundation has awarded nearly $740,000 in grants to 23 nonprofit organizations in New England in 2016. According to the foundation it focuses on “expanding digital literacy, promoting service, and building tomorrow’s leaders.”

The Comcast Foundation was founded by Comcast Corporation in 1999.

 In Connecticut the following groups received grants, totaling $134,000.

 Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury, Waterbury - $12,470

 Easter Seals Goodwill Industries, New Haven - $15,000

 Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters, Hartford - $30,000
