NEW HAVEN: The local nonprofit Music Haven has unveiled its new 6,700 square-foot headquarters. Music Haven provides free music lessons, mentoring, ensemble experiences, and instruments to New Haven youth, and is the home of the Haven String Quartet, a professional string quartet that teaches and mentors all Music Haven students.
Music Haven serves young people ages 6-18 who live in the city’s “Promise Zone” neighborhoods, including students from Fair Haven—the site of Music Haven’s new home. The new facility, located in Erector Square, at 315 Peck St., Building 5, 2nd Floor, offers practice and rehearsal rooms, classrooms, musicians’ studios, a performance space, and a student lounge/homework area, as well as offices for the national award-winning organization. Music Haven, now in its eleventh year, will be able to accommodate all of its students on-site for the first time in its history.
