1000LafayetteCTBRIDGEPORT: New leases at 1000 Lafayette Boulevard one of Bridgeport’s premier office properties is demonstrating new interest in the city’s downtown. Colliers International, with its Fairfield County office in Stamford, was the broker for the two new world class clients.

COWI North America a bridge, tunnel and marine engineering consulting group is relocating to downtown Bridgeport, from 35 Corporate drive in Trumbull, a suburban campus environment. The firm will occupy 8,204 square feet of space on the 10th floor, of the 11 story 214,000 square foot property, which they expect to move into this fall.

Colliers’Michael Siegel,  represented COWI, he explained that urban won out over suburban.  “We looked at several suburban locations at the outset,” Siegel explained. He added, “the inherent benefits of an urban setting – including access to mass transportation and neighborhood amenities – better met my client’s evolving needs.”

COWI has a permanent staff of more than 6,200 employees worldwide and project offices in 35 countries, including 12 locations in North America.

In December, Colliers brought the Stamford based litigation law firm Ryan Ryan Deluca LLP, to the property for the opening of a new office in Bridgeport, taking 12,250 square feet.

Avison Young’s Lori Baker and Sean Cahill served as landlord broker for Shelbourne Lafayette LLC, which owns 1000 Lafayette Blvd. A Shelbourne affiliate just closed on purchase of Hartford’s Metro Center valued at $55 million.
